You are called to make
a diffrence

The Salesians of Don Bosco (SDBs) was founded by St John Bosco, popularly known as Don Bosco, in 1859. Their motto says “Da mihi Animas cætera tolle,” which means “Give me souls, take away the rest.” Don Bosco had envisioned a unique system of education built on Reason, Religion, and Loving Kindness that would uplift the underprivileged and the poor. Through the power of education and apostolic works, the Salesians of Don Bosco have empowered several thousands of youth across the globe to emerge out of poverty, gain access to innumerable resources and achieve a better quality of life. The Salesian way of life encourages young people who feel God’s call to work to join this mission of serving the poor and the disadvantaged.

The Salesians of Don Bosco continue to carry forward the legacy and vision of Don Bosco  in almost every country across the world. Working with the marginalised and those downtrodden, being the face of Christ to the lost and least has been the way the Salesians live out their vocational calling.

Salesian Province of Bangalore

The Province of Bangalore came into existence on 19th March 1979. The Province, comprising of three states (Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh) of South India in 1979, with 15 houses and 184 members, has made a marvelous growth in the past years. It was bifurcated in 1992 and made Andhra Pradesh into another province and Kerala and part of Karnataka was made into the present Bangalore Province and was dedicated to Sacred Heart. Now there are 349 members in the Sacred Heart Province of Bangalore who reach out to the poorest of the poor through 44 centres spread over the states of Karnataka and Kerala. We become messengers of hope and channels of God’s love to the thousands and thousands of poor people realized through our Mission Centres, Parishes, Trade Schools, Orphanages, Home for the Handicapped, Youth Centres, Social Work Centres, and our Shelters for the Children on the Street.

What We Do

SCHOOLS

The Salesian schools around the world have as their characteristic feature, the preventive system, a pedagogical legacy left for us by St. John Bosco, the saint of the young.

COLLEGES

Salesian colleges facilitate a healthy and wholesome learning experience which imparts in the students an integral value education that prepares them to become good human beings and responsible citizens.

PARISHES

Parishes are characterised by a special focus on bringing up the young in true Christ like joy. We build youth groups that witness to true Salesian sanctity

YOUNG AT RISK

The YAR (Young at Risk) Centres are established to help save many ill-fortuned children who are helpless and homeless and who are likely to fall prey to evil groups.

TECHNICAL TRAINING

Technical education is perhaps the most distinctive Salesian contribution to the youth of India, particularly the poorer among them. This empowers thousands of poor youngsters to lead meaningful lives.
